One announcement that was forgotten last night: The Smithtown Elementary PTA is looking for some volunteers (at least 8th grade) tomorrow (Friday) after school to paint the faculty room. Come anytime from 4pm on. They will be there until it’s finished. Questions? Ask Mrs. Mrs. Matejka, 917-856-2802.

Weekend campers, please arrive at the parking lot across from the UHaul on Bellemeade Ave, Smithtown at 7am Saturday morning. Bring your mess kit and at least one full 32oz Nalgene water bottle. Bring a lunch for Saturday that you will eat along the hike. Carry a day pack for the hike. Wear hiking boots and bring comfortable shoes for in the cabin. Temps are in the 20’s at night, 30’s during the day. No rain is expected. Bring a sleeping bag, hat, gloves, and wear layers. Bring a snack, a football, a game, whatever–there will be time to relax with your friends. Let’s have some fun! We plan to return somewhere around 1:30pm but we will send updates as we get closer to home.

Saturday campers, meet at 7:30am at the parking lot across Bellemeade Ave from U-Haul. 7am for quartermasters. We are sleeping in bunks in cabins. Bring sleeping bags, nalgene water bottles, lunch and a snack for Saturday, hiking boots, a change of clothes, layers! Hats and gloves. We will be hiking. Temperatures are in the low 30’s all weekend. Dinner is meatball heros. Be prepared! Here’s who is signed up: Brady, Connick x3, Conway, Cotsalas, Ehrhard, Flynn, Gemmell, Gnoffo, Jaquillard, Keenan, Lasher, Postel, Sanders, Sanders, Sigismonti, Weisberg x2, Wichtendahl. Tonight’s meeting is at GHMS from 7:30-9pm. Class A uniforms. As is our tradition for the first meeting of the year, we will be hearing from troop alumni who have aged out and gone on to the workplace, college, military or other service. Please bring your scout handbooks and scout spirit, please and thank you, of course!
