Campout families, we had a wonderful night on the beach. We plan to depart Short Beach at around 8:15 after a light breakfast and cleanup. We then will be placing the flags on Main Street to remember Patriot Day. Please pick up your scouts approximately 9:15-9:30. Also, we need some helpers to retrieve the flags at 5pm, please and thank you, of course!

Here is our Canoe / Short Beach Camping Plan for tomorrow: Print, sign and bring this waiver: rmd.me/yF.p5StOhUB 7:30am – Those who can transport equipment meet at trailer to load 8:00 – Meet at the usual spot—parking lot on Bellemeade Road, Smithtown opposite the UHaul. 8:15 – Drive to Short Beach. We need some parents to help transport the boys to Short Beach 9:00 – Canoe trip starts at Short Beach, paddling south to Paul T. Given Park 11:30 (approximately) – Arrive at Given Park. Drive back to Short Beach. A few parents needed to transport boys back to Short Beach. If you are bringing your own kayak, you are responsible for having it picked up here at this time. 12:00 – Arrive by car at Short Beach. Lunch and setup campsite. Afternoon activities. 5:00 – Dinner. Troop 349G (girls) will be joining us for dinner and evening campfire. SUNDAY 7:30 – Breakfast 8:00 – Leave to place Flags on Main Street for Patriot Day. A few parents are needed to drive boys back to town from Short Beach. 8:30 – Flag placement on Main Street 9:15 – (Approximate time) Parents pickup scouts at UHaul – Bellemeade Road Smithtown
Pack a lunch for Saturday, and a refillable water bottle. Wear clothes and shoes that can get wet for canoeing, a towel, and a change of clothes. Don’t bring phones, especially if canoeing. Wear sunscreen and a hat for the canoe trip. Bring warm layers and a hat for evening and overnight. It can get windy and cold at the beach. Bring a change of clothes for Sunday. No uniforms are needed. Bring your scout book for potential signoffs.

Welcome back to the scouting year. Please join us on Monday, September 5 for the American flag placement/pickup on Main Street. Meet at 8am and 5pm at the U-Haul on Bellemeade Road, Smithtown. Please try to come to the morning, evening or both if you are in town this weekend. Class A uniforms expected. — Our first troop meeting is Wednesday, September 7 at the Nesconset Gazebo next to the Library/Armory. Class B uniforms. 7-8:30pm. Bring payments for the campout. — Our annual Nissequogue River canoe trip and Short Beach campout is Saturday, September 10. Cost is $30 or $5 if you are bringing your own kayak/canoe or are only coming for dinner and/or camping. (Must be 14 or older to kayak alone.) For this morning’s Court of Honor, please meet at the Nesconset Fire Department on Gibbs Pond Road at 10:30. Use the north entrance, and take the elevator to the 3rd floor. For those parking, do not use the first row of spaces that we will reserve for first responders. There should be cones blocking the spaces as a reminder. See you there—come honor 6 of our Troop family!

The Eagle Court of Honor is tomorrow. I expect to see everyone at 10:30 for the 11am start. Class A uniforms. We should be done by around 2pm. Event is indoors at Nesconset FD, 25 Gibbs Pond Road. Congratulations to scouts John Gemmell, Nick Conte, Zach Wynne, Zac Sanger, Andrew Pawlak and Kevin Zanfardino. Let’s all show them our support!
