Veterans Home visit, November 9, 8:30 to 11:30 Northport Va Medical Center, 79 Middleville Rd, Northport, NY 11768

Flag placement for Veterans Day November 11th, 8:00 posting 5:00pm retrieval meet at storage unit behind James Crest Florist off Main Street.

Fundraising hand in at November 19 meeting. This is a HARD date. No orders accepted after this date due to shipping requirements.

Indian Island campout this weekend

Troop,

Some Details for this weekend:

1. We will meet at 8:00AM Saturday behind James Cress Florist in Smithtown.

2. Scouts should pack a bag lunch for Saturday.

3. All Scouts should bring the following:

a. Warm footgear (boots are preferable)
b. Hats and Gloves
c. Multiple layers ( it is expected to get to 40 degrees Saturday night )
d. Scout book for advancement
e. Sleeping bag
f. Change of clothes
g. Nalgene bottle or Water bottle
h. Mess kit
i. Pumpkin carving tools

4. We will be eating Saturday dinner and Sunday breakfast as a troop. If your scout needs the first class cooking sign off please contact Paul Pelis

5. We are shooting to be back to Smithtown about 11 AM. This is an approximate time, please do not expect exact punctuality. Scouts will give you a call on the way home.

6. Scouts do not need to wear their Class A uniforms.

7. All scouts should not bring ANY Electronics like phones, handheld gaming devices, etc.

8. Paul Pelis will provide driving directions. If you have any questions please call Mr. McCarthy. He asks all drivers to make sure his cell phone number is in their phone.

Short Beach Campout Details

Hello Troop 349!
   Here are some last minute details for the beach campout this weekend:
1.     We will meet at Paul Given Park by the bull on Route 25 at 8:00 AM Saturday Morning.
2.     We hope to be in the water at 8:30 AM
3.     Bring sunscreen and towel.  I recommend wearing a bathing suit and water shoes or crocs or old sneakers.
4.     Please bring a bag lunch for Saturday.
5.     We will be Troop cooking dinner on Saturday night and the troop will supply Sunday breakfast.
6.     There may be some rain Saturday night / Sunday morning so please bring a raincoat or poncho.
7.     If there is bad lightning we will need to leave the beach.  We will make that decision tomorrow afternoon/evening.
8.     Scouts should bring:
a.      Sleeping bag
b.     Mess kit
c.      Scout book for signoffs
d.     Nalgene or water bottle
9.     We will leave the beach by 9 AM Sunday morning.  Parents will be able to pick scouts at Short Beach.
10. SCOUTS SHOULD LEAVE ALL ELECTRONICS AT HOME.   YOU DO NOT NEED IT!  I need parental help on this one.

Yawgoog Notes 2014

OK Troop 349 – it’s Yawgoog time!  Here are details for Saturday and the Care Packages:
Saturday July 12 – Trailer Pack up. 10:00 to 12:00 at my house, 5 Short Court Nesconset.  If other arrangements are needed send me an email.
Please have a parent & scout check in at the table.  Talk to me if you are dropping off medications Medications.  Put them in a zip lock bag and write instructions on a separate paper and put that in the bag as well.
Uniform Inspection Saturday – bring your full uniform on a hanger to the pack-up.
All payments are due Saturday.
All MEDICAL forms must be handed in as well. DON’t forget copies of the Insurance card.
Last second Packing reminders for scouts (things usually forgotten):
·        Day Pack – to carry stuff for ferry to and from Yawgoog
·        Nalgene bottles – so you can keep hydrated!
·        Scout books – to get all the signoffs you need
·        Hangers – to hang up your Class A uniforms in your tents
·        Flashlights or Lamps – lamps must be battery driven only
Sunday July 13 – we meet at Orient Point at 12 noonish to have lunch and relax a bit before boarding the ferry.  We board the ferry for New London at 1:30 PM.
Tuesday July 15 – this Tuesday evening by 7:00 PM is the deadline to have “Care Packages” for the boys at Mr. Johnston’s house (8 St James Road, Lake Grove).  The boys love to get their packages from home on Wednesday night, so thank you Pat & Georgette! Some guidelines:
·        Please keep the package to approximately shoebox size – we need to pack 60 or so of them!
·        Please do not put in chocolate or items that can melt
Please do not leave any packages on front Trailer Porch! If Mrs. J is not home you can leave your package on her front stoop either one ! They  are the white house behind the trailer! ( still recovering from the fire last year) Thank you and see you no later then Tuesday July 15 th 7 PM.
Sunday July 21 – We arrive back at Orient Point around 5:20 PM (we take the 4 PM from New London).  Please come and meet up with your scouts so they can tell you what a great time they had! J

June 4th Meeting Location Change

Troop 349,

Due to circumstances beyond our control, we do not have Great Hollow’s facilities for Wednesday’s meeting.
 
The troop will meet at the Nesconset Library, 148 Smithtown Blvd. 7:30 pm near the hockey rink and skate park.
This is our annual scavenger hunt.
Points to remember:
  • Scouts should create teams. teams are limited to the number of seat belts in your car.
  • Each team requires an adult (21+) driver. NO SPEEDING, road rules must be observed at all times.
  • Scout SAFETY must be observed at all times!
  • The hunt will cover Smithtown and Nesconset.
  • You will need a pencil and paper to take a rubbing.
  • You will need at least $4 cash,  or if your resourceful this task can be completed for free.
  • You will need some type of electronic device to take pictures.
Exact details will be given at the start of Wednesday’s meeting.
