December 2, 2017 – NYC Day Hike

Come join the troop on its annual December Hike Down the NYC Highline!

We will be meeting at the Ronkonkoma Train Station and take the LIRR to the City:
Hike down the NYC HighLine – www.thehighline.org/visit
Tour the National September 11 Memorial & Museum www.911memorial.org/

The cost is $35 per person. This covers Roundtrip LIRR and NYC Subway fares, and entrance to the 9/11 Museum.

Please pay for this trip at the next troop meeting.

Please bring a bag lunch, a day pack, and a Nalgene Water bottle.
PLEASE DO NOT BRING ANY KNIVES! We will be going through Security checks.
More details shall be provided at upcoming Troop meetings.

Benjamin Tallmadge Merit Badge Opportunities


Suffolk County Council is excited to bring a year long merit badge program to the Boy Scouts.  Through this program we will be partnering with various organizations and companies to offer unique merit badge opportunities.  Click the links below for each merit badge to see when and where it will be offered along with the cost to participate.  All pre-requisites are listed at the bottom of the page.  Please make sure you complete what you need to before the badge so you can get signed off on that day.  If you have any questions please contact Bobby Rabbitt – Benjamin Tallmadge Senior District Executive for more information.

January 2018 Campout -NoBeBoSco

This cabin camp out will take place during the January 20th weekend at Camp No-Be-Bo-Sco, NJ.

Activities planned for this camp out include:
Ice skating on Sand Pond
Hiking on the Appalachian Trail
Patrol Cooking

CAMPERS SHOULD DRESS WITH APPROPRIATE WARM LAYERS, HEADGEAR, HIKING BOOTS AND HAVE WARM GLOVES.

The cost is $25 per person. Please pay for this trip at an upcoming troop meeting.

Sign-up closes on Wednesday, Jan 10th.
Please note that there are only 30 total cabin spaces for both Scouts and adult leaders. This camp-out sign-up is open to the first 30 paid reservations.

Expected departure time from the James Cress parking lot is no later than 7 am on Saturday, January 20th.

More details shall be provided at upcoming Troop meetings.

Turkeyfest & Schiff map

Hello Troop 349

Last minute details for Turkeyfest. Bring a nalgene bottle, warm clothes, class “B” uniform. See the troop website for winter weather gear. You may want to bring a bag lunch or snack to hold you over til corn chowder. Corn chowder is usually ready around 1:30-2. Dinner is around 4 and we usually finish dessert around 7:00.

We are meeting behind James Cress at 730 am.

If you are meeting us out there I have attached the Schiff Scout Reservation camp map. We will be in Hayden Hall at the bottom of the map by the caboose. Make the right turn when you come in and just follow the road. Parking is tight at this part of the camp so please car pool if you can.

Troop events this week

Hello Troop 349

This is a busy scouting week. Here are some of the things you need to know about.

Registration is due this Wednesday. If you haven’t paid yet for the 2018 scouting year please bring the money to this week’s meeting.

Veterans day flags this Friday 8am set up & 5pm take down.

Turkeyfest is this weekend 🙂 We will be leaving from the parking lot behind James Cress at 7:30am on Saturday 11/11. We will be returning to Cress at approx 9:30am Sunday morning. Dress warm. As usual, this Turkeyfest weekend will be the coldest day & night of the fall so far.

Danny Alm Star project this Friday 9:30-12 at the St James Lutheran church in St James.

Please check the troop website for any other upcoming events through the end of the year.
