Hello troop

Our campout to camp Alpine is cancelled. The camp has no power & many trees & tree limbs still not secured. We will try to reschedule this camp for later this winter/spring.

Camp Alpine Patrol cooking

Hello Troop 349,

This weekend we will be heading to Alpine for a fun winter campout! This campout will be patrol cooking which for those who don’t know means patrols made just for this weekend
plan, buy and prepare/cook their own dinners. Guides/Patrol Leaders are responsible for making sure their patrol has food, the rule of thumb is to spend about $10 per person in the patrol, and
if you save your receipts you will be reimbursed. Additionally, we will be having a cook off to see which patrol can prepare the best meal, the winners will receive a prize from leadership. The patrols are as follows…

Climbing Merit Badge Day

Open to ALL Boy Scouts!

Scouts who want to earn the climbing merit badge can join us on Sunday, April 15, 2018, or Sunday, June 10, 2018, from 8:30 am to 5:00 pm at Baiting Hollow Scout Camp.

The fee is $35 per scout. Register Today!

Registration is limited to 32 scouts. Scouts who want to earn the climbing merit badge should have the following requirements completed in the badge workbook: 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, & 7. Click here for a copy of the workbook.

All Participants are required to wear long pants (jeans preferred) and bring a completed BSA medical form (Parts A&B) and a release form with them. Any participant who does not have the medical form and release will not be able to participate.

Boy Scout Spring Camp – April 2-6

Spring Camp 2018  (April 2-6)
Learning the Trades is our theme!

Our theme for Spring Camp is: LEARNING THE TRADES. The program will include merit badges and open time activities. Scouts will sleep in cabins. All meals will be prepared and served in the Dining Hall. The Trading Post will be stocked with snacks, merit badge books, Scouting items and camp souvenirs.

The price is $320 per Boy Scout.

Space is limited to 60 Scouts and will be filled on a first-come, first-served basis. Please register early.

Merit badges being offered are Automotive Maintenance, Electricity, Electronics, Home Repair, Painting, Plumbing, Truck Transportation, Welding*, Woodworking and possibly Surveying*.

*Please note: Scouts must be at least 13 years old to take the Surveying and Welding merit badges.

Eagle Scout Class of 2017, a deep dive into the numbers


As we are about to celebrate the introduction of six new Eagles into our convocation, the article re-enforces what we as a troop already know, that scouting is alive and well.  With over enough Scouts to fill Dodgers Stadium, 2.5 million s of service hours in Eagle projects, definitely signify a validation of Baden Powell’s  vision.  More impressive still is that this not just a one-time event, but on par with number of Eagle Scout’s for the last five years.  Take some time to read the article and I think that you will be surprised with what you learn.

March 2018 Camp-out: Alpine

This cabin camp-out will take place during the March 10th weekend at Camp Alpine, NJ.

Activities available at Camp Alpine include:
Activity Center -Climbing wall, ping pong, Foosball tables, volleyball court, basketball hoops
Hiking on the Red Dot Trail or in the Palisades Interstate Park
Geocaching Course
Orienteering Course

CAMPERS SHOULD DRESS WITH APPROPRIATE WARM LAYERS, HEADGEAR, HIKING BOOTS AND HAVE WARM GLOVES.

The cost is $30 per person. Please pay for this trip at an upcoming troop meeting.
Sign-up closes on Wednesday, Feb 28th, but there are only 30 total cabin spaces for both Scouts and adult leaders. This camp-out sign-up will close once the 30 spaces are paid for.

Expected departure time from the James Cress parking lot is no later than 7 am on Saturday, March 10th.

More details shall be provided at upcoming Troop meetings.
