Winter Camp 2019- February 18-22
Safety / Emergency Preparedness is our theme!Winter Camp 2019 will have a Safety / Emergency Preparedness theme. The Merit Badges being offered are all related to the theme. First Aid, Emergency Preparedness, Traffic Safety, Search and Rescue, Safety, Fire Safety, Signs Signals and Codes, and Public Health will all be offered as part of the theme. In addition Chess, Photography and Scouting Heritage will also be offered
In addition to merit badge classes, we will have presentations and activities related to the theme. The Fire Department, Police Department, Sheriff’s K-9 unit, Department of Health, PSE&G Long Island and the Search and Rescue group are all scheduled to visit us during the week. Topics include electrical safety, Fire prevention, Public Health, and First Aid. The week will end with a camp-wide Search and rescue drill that will challenge all of our Scouts.
Scouts will sleep in heated cabins. All meals will be prepared and served in the Dining Hall. The Trading Post will be stocked with snacks, merit badge books, Scouting items, and camp souvenirs.

Nobebosco campout
Hello Troop
We will be leaving Sat at 7am from the parking lot behind James Cress. Please bring a bag lunch & nalgene bottle of water. We will be patrol cooking for dinner and muffins for breakfast.
We will be hiking this weekend. Please bring boots and layers of warm clothes, gloves, 2 layers of socks etc. This is going to be a cold weekend.
We will be returning to Smithtown around noon on Sunday.

Happy New Scouting Year
Happy New Year to all.
Let’s start the New Year off with 3 full cabin camping months! If you have not signed up for Jan, Feb, or March outings, please do it today. Jan & Feb trips only have a few spots open.
This week’s meeting is alumni night. We have our 50th anniversary year & there are a few alumni joining us from the EARLY days of the troop.
Eagle Court of Honor for Anthony W, Tom M, Jack K, & Mike B this Sat at the Cleary School at 1:00. Class “A” uniforms & attendance is mandatory of course.

February 2019 Campout -Quail Hill
February 2019 Campout -Quail Hill
This cabin camp out will take place the February 16th weekend at Quail Hill Scout Reservation, NJ.
Quail Hill Scout Reservation offers 250 acres of woodlands, streams, meadows, fields, pool and pond located in western Monmouth County. Available camp facilities include a pool, BB and archery range, picnic areas with pavilion, and a dining hall.
The cost is $40 per person. Two cabins are reserved for 40 campers. Please pay for this trip at the next troop meeting.
Expected departure time from the James Cress parking lot is approximately 7 am on Saturday.

January 2019 Campout -NoBeBoSco
January 2019 Campout -NoBeBoSco
This cabin camp out will take place during the January 26th weekend at Camp No-Be-Bo-Sco, NJ.
Activities planned for this camp out include:
Ice skating on Sand Pond
Hiking on the Appalachian Trail
Patrol Cooking
CAMPERS SHOULD DRESS WITH APPROPRIATE WARM LAYERS, HEADGEAR, HIKING BOOTS AND HAVE WARM GLOVES.
The cost is $30 per person. Please pay for this trip at an upcoming troop meeting.
Sign-up closes on Wednesday, Jan 10th.
Please note -there are only 28 total cabin spaces for both Scouts and adult leaders. This camp-out sign-up is open to the first 28 paid reservations.

Holiday meeting info
Hello Troop
Our Holiday meeting will be at Bretton Woods School Cafetreia 1 Club Lane Hauppauge
Lincoln Blvd past HS over 454 , right turn stop sign onto Atlantic Club Lane is a dead end street -only the school
Drive around to back of schools – Cafe is closest to the dumpsters. Scouts/Parents go in /out directly through Cafe Doors
Please bring a wrapped gift of no more than $20 for our Secret Santa.
Each patrol is asked to bring 2 desserts.
Class “B” or Ugly Christmas Sweater. There will be a competition for the ugliest Sweater 🙂
Don’t forget to sign up for the Jan-March cabin campouts too!

Hello Troop
Matt Y Eagle project will be on Sat, Dec 8, 2018, 9:00 AM – 3:00 PM at Walter S. Commerdinger, Jr. County Park, 2 Edgewood Ave, Nesconset
We will be constructing a fence along the edge of Commerdinger Park. Please bring rakes, shovels, gloves and Scout Spirit!
Please help load the collection truck with all our clothing fundraiser bags. Sun December 9
10:30 am – 12:00 pm at the Sergio’s house 29 Southview Cir, Lake Grove, NY 11755, USA (map)
Last minute drop off will be Sunday 12/9 between 9 am and 10:30 am at the Sergio’s House
29 Southview Circle in Lake Grove. We will need a bunch of Scouts at the Sergio’s House to help load the collection truck on Sunday 12/9 from 1030 am -12.
