With the news of Sachem East 11th grade football player Joshua Mileto passing away last week my project takes on a new meaning for me. Joshua’s younger brother still plays Sachem Sports Club Football at The PAL Complex, so I really would like to do an extra special job with the clean up in Joshua’s Honor. Please set a side a couple of hours and come help out that morning if you can. Any questions please call or text me 631-804-1277… Please and Thank You of Course. Rocco Sergio

As many of you know the Troop will be at the Nesconset Armory tomorrow from 1:30-3:30 to view the solar eclipse. A few things to note are, that all scouts that attend will be eligible to receive the BSA 2017 Solar Eclipse Patch, and that if you wish to get this patch you will have to draw a simple diagram of the positions of the sun, earth and moon during a solar eclipse; we will go over how to, and do this at the armory. Also, scouts are responsible for bringing their own eye protection as you cannot look at the sun without some sort of protection under any circumstances, including during an eclipse. You can use solar viewing glasses with ISO 12312-2 certification, wielding goggles, or you can build your own shoe box viewer with some simple materials that you can use (we will have some extras there for everyone to share). Instructions to build your own will be in the link at the bottom of this post. Lastly we ask that if you are going to be attending please bring a snack, and a Nalgene/water. We also suggest bringing lawn/beach chairs or a picnic blanket so you have somewhere to sit.

P.S. The invitation to come view the eclipse is open to everyone, so if you have some family or friends who want to come they are happy to do so.
Good morning
Just a reminder that Matt D is having his project from 10-2 today. Temple Beth Chai on Townline rd in Hauppauge. See the troop website for more info. Thank you

This Monday the 21st the sun will be approx 75% blocked by the moon. Troop 349 is having a viewing event outside the Nesconset library/Armory from 1:30 – 3:30. The 75% coverage happens at approx 2:40. Please bring snacks and Nalgenes.
Each scout is responsible for obtaining their own solar viewing glasses. If you’d like to make a viewer out of a shoe box and a few other simple materials please bring a shoe box to the event. We will make the viewer there.I have attached a link to the box to this email too.
If there are any adults who are available to attend please let Mr Merchant know so that we have enough adults to help out with this event. If you have a telescope or binoculars with solar filter please bring them to the eclipse too.

This is just a friendly reminder about today’s Leadership Meeting at the Nesconset Library. We will be meeting in the conference room from 7pm to 8:30pm. If you were a Patrol Leader, Guide, Instructor, or ASPL last year or at Yawgoog you are expected to be there. The only things you need to bring are a pen and yourself, I look forward to seeing everyone and to the start of what I hope will be a great year.
